About Ayurveda

'Ayurveda is the art of living life in harmony with the laws of nature'.

Ayurveda translates from Sanskrit to 'The Science of Life'

Ayurveda is an ancient, holistic health system which treats the root cause of disease rather than just the symptoms. The fundametal principles of Ayurveda are that all living things are made up of the five elements of the earth, those being, space, air, fire, water and earth. We are all born with our own, individual combination of these elements, providing each of us with a unique blue print. In Ayurveda, this combination of elements, unique to each of us, is called our Prakriti, or basic constitution.

Ayurveda views illness as a result of imbalance in a person's physical or mental constitution (Vikriti) and seeks to gently bring a person's body and mind back in to a healthy balance. This is achieved through small changes to diet and lifestyle, food, treatments/therapies, detoxification, herbal remedies and formulations, yoga and meditation. Ayurveda is about providing people with the tools necessary to treat their body according to its individual needs, leading to physical, emotional and mental balance, wellbeing and health.

The objective of Ayurveda is not only to restore health in a person with disease, but also to help maintain health in a healthy person. Its emphasis is on prevention rather than cure and is founded on the principle of preventing disorders in the long term rather than waiting for them to manifest.

The body, mind and consciousness work together to achieve natural wellness and balance. Through making informed choices in our daily life in order to achieve this balance, we have the means to heal ourselves and be ultimately responsible for our own health and wellness.

Ayurveda helps us understand our health so that we are informed and inspired to live our lives with greater awareness, enthusiasm and vitality.

"Lisa has a very calm and grounding nature, that made me feel very at ease when I went for my consultaion. Her recommendations for my treatment were well explained, and she really took the time to help me understand the benefits of Ayurveda. I received a treatment that was incredibly relaxing at the time, but also triggered beneficial changes in the days after. The location is beautiful and peaceful too. I would highly recommend Simply Ayurveda to anyone seeking positive change in any aspect of their lives."
